The Zellige Soleil consists of different shapes in one box that together make a pattern. You can place the pattern in different ways. It is not possible to buy the shapes separately, they are all in one box of 0.86m2.
Do you want to know how many of a certain shape there are in one box? Ask a staff member for help, then we will tell you more. You can order the Soleil in any colour combination.
Part of the Soleil is natural and unglazed. This means that dirt and moisture can get into it and it is not waterproof and can be used in wet areas.
The Zellige Soleil is a handmade wall tile of 10x10 cm and 1 cm thick and comes from one of our factories in Fez, Morocco. The surface is smooth yet lively and has beautiful colour nuances. Because each tile in the box is slightly different, a lively result is created. Although the tile has a rustic look, it also fits perfectly in a modern interior.
Good to know
Zelliges (pronounced 'zulliezjes') are handmade wall tiles from Morocco. They are fired in a special way and later cut at an angle so that they can be placed tightly together. This labour-intensive work gives the tiles their own look and character.
The clay used for the production of Zelliges can only be found in Fez, Morocco.
This clay contains lime pits that are regularly found on the surface of the tile or in the glaze. This also applies to small irregularities in thickness in the surface. This is characteristic of this type of tile and should be considered normal.
Zelliges can only be used as wall tiles. If you would like to have this look on your floor, check out our Plattas and Bejmat tiles.
Installation of Zelliges
Moroccan tiles need extra attention during installation and have their own instruction manual for this. At purchase, you will receive a step-by-step plan with instructions and points of attention. We advise you to read this manual carefully before laying the tiles. Or hire a good tiler who is familiar with this type of tiles.
Zelliges can be used both inside and outside. For outdoors: under a roof, protected from water and sun. A heavy frost can cause the glaze to crack.
They are only suitable as wall tiles. The surface is irregular, so this can result in sharp edges. They are ideal tiles for your hall, toilet, bathroom and kitchen. Zelliges are also very suitable for hotel and catering establishments.
Colours and sizes
Zelliges come in many different colours. Each batch has a small colour difference. Also, the tiles from one box will have differences in colour and irregularities, this is due to the production process and should be considered normal. Zelliges are cut by hand into different sizes and shapes. In our country we mostly see square and rectangular shapes. In the country of origin, the most beautiful shapes are made, which are often processed into mosaics. Designtegels.nl can produce Zellige tiles in almost any shape.
Ordering, delivery and delivery
These tiles are delivered per box. For help in calculating the required quantities, expert advice or a customised quote we are happy to help you in one of our showrooms.
Orders can be delivered to your home via our carrier. They are placed firmly on a pallet and the risk of breakage is minimised. The costs for this are calculated based on the weight and volume and are included in the quote, if applicable.
There is also the possibility to collect the tiles from our warehouse in Breda or from our showroom in Utrecht. Collecting is only possible by appointment and when the tiles are in stock. If you would like to see the tile in real life and you are not able to visit one of our showrooms, you can order a sample via our website.
Zelliges have a hard top layer and are easy to maintain. Weekly mopping or cleaning with an all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Preferably use an acid-free product that is not too greasy.
In case of heavy soiling, we recommend using Azule Dirt Remover. This powerful degreaser deals with most dirt on various types of tiles.
