Handmade and of the highest quality, the Azule Cement Tile
Each cement tile is handmade, one by one. This is done in Vietnam, where they specialise in making patterned tiles. This cement tile is unique because it is not baked but pressed. This is done by hand and the colours are added in a mould. Because the tile is not baked, it remains porous and must be impregnated during installation. A very special tile indeed! Would you like to see how a cement tile is made? Then watch the film that Designtegels made in the factory where the cement tiles are made by hand. It takes you step by step through the process.
Laying, impregnating and maintaining cement tiles
Cement tiles are made from marble powder, which means they must be treated like natural stone tiles. This makes the tiles sensitive to acids, bleach and other corrosive cleaning products. The tiles must also be laid using acid-free tile adhesive, grout and sealant. Laying and treating Portuguese cement tiles is slightly different from laying ordinary tiles. Download our step-by-step guide here. You need to treat them during and after installation. You impregnate the tiles with Azule impregnating agent. Depending on the room, you use Azule Stain Stop, Azule Colour Deepener or Azule Tile Oil. The tiles can be maintained with acid-free cleaning agents such as green soap or Azule Mop Soap, which has been specially developed for cement tiles.
