Good to know
Cement tiles, also called Portuguese tiles, are tiles that are produced in a traditional way. They are still handmade and pressed one by one in our factory to this day, just as it was done 100 years ago. Cement tiles have irregularities and vibrant colour nuances, and they can also differ slightly in colour. This is inherent to this type of tile and should be considered normal.
There are many styles possible, from classic to retro or modern. Cement tiles also fit in very nicely with other materials such as wood, steel and concrete.
Installing cement tiles
Cement tiles require extra attention during installation and have their own instruction manual for this. When purchasing, you will receive a step-by-step plan with instructions and points of attention. We recommend that you read this manual carefully before installing the tiles. Or hire a good tiler who is familiar with this type of tiles.
Suitable for
Cement tiles can be used as floor and wall tiles and can be used both indoors and outdoors. For outdoors: on a hard surface such as concrete, under a canopy, protected from rainwater and sun. A heavy frost can cause cracks.
They are ideal tiles for the home, such as the kitchen, bathroom, hall, living room, veranda and toilet. But Portuguese cement tiles also come into their own in a business environment, such as an office or catering establishment.
Colors, patterns and sizes
Cement tiles are supplied in many different sizes, colours and patterns. We also provide cement tiles with custom colours and patterns, completely tailored and to your wishes. Each batch may show colour differences or irregularities. This has to do with the production process and should be considered normal.
Ordering, delivery and shipping
These tiles are delivered per box. For help calculating the required quantities, expert advice or a customized quote, we are happy to help you in one of our showrooms.
Orders can be delivered to your home via our carrier. The costs for this are calculated based on weight and volume and are included in the quote, if applicable.
There is also the possibility to pick up the tiles at our warehouse in Breda or at our showroom in Utrecht. Pick up is only possible by appointment and if the tiles are in stock. If you want to see the tile in real life and you are not able to view them in one of our showrooms, order a sample via our website.
Maintenance
Cement tiles are easy to maintain. Mop weekly with an acid-free agent such as our own Azule Mop Soap . This also provides extra protection to the surface.
Be careful with acids, these give ugly stains or discolourations that are difficult to remove later. Remove a stain directly from the tile with water and green soap or Dweilzeep. This also applies to fats and other liquids. You can remove grease stains, paint or heavy soiling with one of our special cleaning agents.
