Marocca, the colours of Morocco on a cement tile
Do you think cement tiles always have a pattern? This Marocca tile is a smooth tile in contemporary colours. The shape also differs from the standard square model, as it is rectangular (7.5 x 30) and ideal for herringbone or straight laying. The colours are not completely uniform but have a beautiful lived-in look that only becomes more beautiful the longer they are laid. The Marocca is only available at Designtegels. The origin of the name goes deeper than just the country of production. In Casola in Lunigiana, Tuscany, bread rolls are still made in this rectangular shape to this day. The rolls are quite hard and have been given the name Marocca. This seemed to us to be the right name for this tile collection: Mediterranean, lively, rolls, stone & Morocco. A tile that is perfect for your bathroom, hall or kitchen. Do you want it on the floor or on the wall? Both are possible!
Handmade Moroccan cement tile
The production process for Marocca tiles is the same as for our Portuguese cement tiles or patterned tiles. The tiles are pressed into a mould and coated with a layer of colour consisting of marble powder. However, these tiles are made in Morocco. Here, they use slightly different ingredients and colours, which makes the surface a little more vibrant than our Portuguese version. And that is precisely what makes these tiles so phenomenally beautiful!
The shapes and colours of Marocca
These elongated tiles have an attractive rectangular shape measuring 30.5 by 6 cm and are available in various colours. These tiles must be impregnated during installation, after which the colours become even more vibrant. Because the tile is not fired, the impregnation process ensures that the tile is sealed against dirt. The thickness of 1.6 cm means that you can install them on both the floor and the wall. Can you already picture the Marocca tiles in your interior? A herringbone floor in your hall or a beautiful wall in your bathroom. In addition to our standard elongated model, we also offer custom shapes of the Marocca tiles. Are you looking for cement tiles in fish scale, diamond, hexagon, square or rectangular shapes? We can also have these shapes made for you in the colours you want at our factory in Morocco. Because the colours are added to each tile by hand, they may vary per delivery or even per box. This is inherent to the tile and creates a beautiful, lively effect on a large surface.
What you need to know and examples to view
Marocca tiles are made exclusively for us and are not available anywhere else in the Netherlands. The tiles have vibrant colours and nuances, so we recommend viewing them in person before placing an order. The tiles are on display in our showrooms in Breda or Utrecht, where you can view several tiles together. You can also order samples via our website. We recommend always ordering more than one sample so that you can see the colour nuances of the tile clearly. Even then, the colour may not match the sample you saw in our showroom or received as a sample. Because the tiles are coloured by hand, each order can be slightly different.
