Privacy Policy

We attach great importance to the protection of your personal data and handle it carefully and responsibly. In this privacy statement we transparently explain which personal data we process, for what purposes, on which legal grounds and what rights you have. We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who are we?
We are:

Website: https://www.designtegels.nl/

We are active in the sale and delivery of tiles, treatment products and other related products. We do this through our webshop, by telephone and in our physical stores. In addition, we provide supplementary services, including drawing up floor plans and customised advice, in collaboration with other companies, hospitality businesses and architects where applicable.

2. Whose personal data do we process?
We process personal data of various categories of data subjects, including:

  • consumers and business customers who purchase products or services from us;

  • potential customers who request information from us;

  • business relations and collaboration partners;

  • visitors to our website;

  • persons who contact us via email, telephone, chat or contact forms;

  • persons who have signed up for newsletters or other marketing communications;

  • suppliers, service providers and contractors collaborating with us.

3. On what legal grounds do we process personal data?
We only process personal data when there is a legal ground for doing so as referred to in Article 6 GDPR.

a. Performance of a contract
When you enter into a contract with us or request us to enter into a contract, we process personal data that is necessary for the establishment and performance of that contract. This includes, among other things, processing orders, delivering and transporting products, processing payments, handling invoicing, maintaining customer contact and handling service and warranty queries.

Even when contracts are concluded by telephone or in our physical stores, we process personal data for these purposes. We also process personal data in the context of drawing up floor plans and other customised services, where collaboration with external parties may take place insofar as this is necessary for the performance of the contract.

For these processing activities, we may share personal data with categories of third parties that support us, such as providers of webshop systems and e-commerce platforms, ERP and CRM systems, payment and invoicing systems, logistics service providers and carriers, email and collaboration software, customer support and helpdesk systems, and contractors collaborating with us.

b. Legitimate interest
We also process personal data where this is necessary for our legitimate interests, provided these interests outweigh your privacy interest. This concerns processing activities that are necessary for efficient, safe and professional business operations.

These include, among others:

  • the technical management, maintenance and security of our website, IT systems and infrastructure;

  • the use of hosting and cloud storage;

  • internal administration, reports, business analyses and management information;

  • answering questions and messages;

  • marketing and communication activities towards existing or former customers regarding comparable products or services;

  • improving and optimising our website, stores and services;

  • fraud prevention, security and ensuring the continuity of our business.

In addition, we may use form, feedback and survey software to gain insight into the experiences of visitors and customers. We also use personalisation software to better tailor the content of our website and communication to the interests of visitors and customers.

For these purposes, personal data may be processed by categories of third parties, such as providers of analytics, tracking and user behaviour analysis software (including website analytics, heatmaps and session recordings), marketing automation and advertising platforms, personalisation software, tracking and server-side tagging technology, review platforms, social media platforms, telephony and VoIP service providers, external IT service providers, backup service providers and providers of form or survey software.

c. Consent
In certain cases we process personal data exclusively on the basis of your consent. This is, for example, the case when you actively sign up for a newsletter, participate in customer research or surveys, or give consent for the placement of non-essential cookies and similar techniques. You can withdraw consent given at any time, without this affecting the lawfulness of the processing prior to the withdrawal.

d. Legal obligation
We process personal data when this is necessary to comply with legal obligations, such as obligations under tax and administrative legislation. In that context, personal data may be shared with administrative or accounting service providers, debt collection service providers, legal advisers and competent government authorities, including supervisory authorities and the tax authority.

4. Cookies and similar techniques
We use cookies and similar techniques on our website. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website and in which information is stored or read.

We use cookies that are necessary for the proper functioning and security of the website. In addition, we use functional, analytical and marketing cookies to gain insight into the use of the website, to improve the website and to better tailor marketing activities to visitors.

For cookies that require consent, we request and register this consent via a cookie consent management platform (cookie banner). You can change your cookie settings or withdraw your consent at any time via this banner.

5. Transfer outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
We process personal data in principle within the European Economic Area (EEA). If personal data is nevertheless processed outside the EEA, we ensure that this takes place with appropriate safeguards, such as using standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or other permitted mechanisms under the GDPR.

6. Access to personal data and processors
Access to personal data is limited to authorised employees and persons who need this data to carry out their work. With external parties that process personal data on our behalf, we enter into – where legally required – data processing agreements in which agreements are laid down on confidentiality, security, secrecy and data protection.

7. Automated decision-making
We do not make use of automated decision-making or profiling that has legal consequences for you or otherwise significantly affects you.

8. Your rights
You have the right to:

  • access your personal data;

  • have your personal data corrected or supplemented;

  • have your personal data deleted;

  • restrict the processing of your personal data;

  • object to the processing;

  • have your personal data transferred to another party;

  • withdraw a previously given consent.

You can submit a request via the contact details above. We will respond within four weeks. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority for data protection.

9. Retention periods
We do not retain personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
In doing so, we apply, among others, the following principles:

  • personal data related to contracts and orders are retained for as long as the contract runs and thereafter for as long as necessary for administrative, fiscal or legal purposes;

  • administrative and financial data are retained in accordance with statutory retention obligations;

  • marketing and communication data are retained until you unsubscribe or object;

  • data of website visitors are retained in accordance with the settings and periods in our cookie and consent settings.

10. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure and other forms of unlawful processing. These measures are tailored to the nature of the processing, the state of the art and the potential risks.

Our security measures include, among others, access restrictions, secure connections, encrypted storage where appropriate, periodic backups, up-to-date software updates and organisational measures aimed at consciously and carefully handling personal data.
