This is how you combine tiles!

Do you want a big interior boost, but don't know where to start? How about combining! Combining tiles with each other is one of the most fun things there is. It gives a cool effect very quickly and is super simple to do.

We wanted to give a room in our showroom in Breda a big boost. We had decided to tile the wall with many different tiles. And not different colours, but different heights, widths and thicknesses for a playful effect. To properly execute the idea, we started by laying tiles on the floor. It was a puzzle, but this way we could move each tile as often as we wanted until we liked it.

Once we knew where each tile would go, we took a picture of it and printed it out. That way, we could see exactly where the tiles had to go when tiling. We deliberately used a glue that dries quickly, so that the tiles wouldn't sag/fall off the wall. Because the glue dries quickly, we had to work quickly. That's why we took the picture, so that we could tile without having to think about where the tiles had to be glued. After gluing with the glue comb, we could get started and glued all the tiles one by one. It felt like a craft project and was a really fun activity.

After 5 hours of gluing tiles, we finally reached the very last tile. The effect was super cool! After letting the glue dry for a day, it was time to start grouting. We thought it would be quite a challenge with all the different types of tiles. Some tiles stick out, some are much thicker… But once we got started, it was really easy and we were immediately happy with the result. Because let's be honest, this end result makes everyone happy!
Soon we will show you how we finish this room with nice furniture and home accessories. Stay tuned!
