A tiler or DIY?

2 mei 2018

Once you have finally chosen which tile you want, it of course still needs to be installed. Are you handy and willing to give it a go? Do you know someone who might be able to do it? Or do you need a tiler to help you install the tiles?

Moroccan tiles

With Moroccan tiles, particularly zellige, it is certainly possible to do it yourself. Make sure you read our instructions carefully and follow every step, and it should go well!

Cement tiles

With cement tiles, the process is considerably more complicated. A few things are particularly important:
Follow the step-by-step plan, step by step! Do not skip any steps and plan to do them later, as this could cause everything to go completely wrong.
Make sure you buy the right products to install them, you can buy everything from Designtegels, but if you want to source them yourself, check whether they are suitable for natural stone, acid-free and whether the adhesive is flexible.

Choose your tiler

If you engage a tiler, clearly tell them in advance which tile it is and whether they are familiar with the product. Do not assume this; it very often happens that a tiler is used to ceramic tiles and does not take the porosity of the tiles into account. To be on the safe side, always give them our step-by-step plan and ask them to buy the right products. On the page: Tilers Designtegels has tilers throughout the country. They are all specialists and very familiar with our products.

Laying patterns

Do you have a complicated pattern with borders and corners? Then it is advisable to lay out your tiles in our floor planner beforehand, or otherwise on the floor, so that you can be sure the pattern is correct and the tiler cannot make any mistakes. A tile is soon fixed in place, and getting a pattern the wrong way round will always be an eyesore.
