A look inside Bart and Marloes’ home
15 March 2017
Welcome to Zwolle and this stunning 1930s house. Bram and Marloes spent no less than two years renovating it and furnishing the house to their taste. What an undertaking, but what a result! Everything has been finished and styled down to the last detail, and the house radiates a love and passion for the 1930s. I personally am in love with this style, the terrazzo floors, stained-glass en-suite doors and black Bakelite switches. The tiles finish it off!
1920s and Designtegels
Marloes and Bram told us that they are fans of Designtegels, and it shows. There is one of our tiles to be found in every room. Because we work with both old and new patterns, there is always a pattern to suit these characterful houses. You can also choose the colours yourself: go bold or keep it in style. We also have various types of tiles, such as Marble Mosaic and Metro tiles, which you also often see in older houses.
A new look or an old look?
When you start a renovation like this, the difficult decision is always which original elements to keep, whether functional or not. This bathroom has the look of the old house, with original features, but it has certainly been modernised – in the right way. The toilet is built in and there is a heating element reaching up to the ceiling. A beautiful retro washbasin has been installed. The mosaic floor tile is THE classic honeycomb tile for this style; combined with the subway, or Metro, tile, it creates a beautiful look.
Classic with a twist
Downstairs in the kitchen, you find a classic kitchen. The combination of the tiles and the terrazzo worktop makes it fit seamlessly into the overall design. Moroccan Bejmat tiles have been used here as a splashback. This is not a standard tile for this style, but it fits perfectly into the overall look. The green colour goes perfectly with the floor tile, the Azule 09 Olive.
