Good to know
Bejmats (pronounced "besjmats") are handmade tiles from Morocco. They are shaped in a special way from clay, dried in the sun and baked in an authentic olive pit oven. This labor-intensive work gives the tile its own character. The clay contains lime pits that can regularly be found on the surface of the tile or in the glaze. This is a characteristic of handmade Moroccan tiles and should be considered normal. Bejmats can be used both as floor and wall tiles. If you prefer to place a thinner tile on your wall, take a look at our Zelliges.
Installing Bejmats
Moroccan tiles need extra care when installing them and have their own instruction manual. Upon purchase, you will receive a step-by-step plan with instructions and points of attention. We recommend that you read this manual carefully before installing the tiles. Or hire a good tiler who is familiar with this type of tile.
Suitable for
Bejmats can be used both indoors and outdoors. The following applies for outdoors: under a canopy, protected from water and sun. A significant frost can cause the glaze to crack.
They are suitable as a wall tile and as a floor tile. The surface is irregular so this can create tangible edges. They are ideal tiles for your hall, toilet, bathroom and kitchen. Bejmats are also suitable for catering establishments.
Colors and sizes
Bejmat tiles come in many different colors. Each batch has a small color difference. The tiles in 1 box also have color differences and irregularities, this has to do with the production process and should be considered normal.
